Summer uniform
In addition, during the summer the following items may be worn:
- Blue and white checked gingham dress, plus white socks
- Dark grey school shorts
- Closed toe sandals (black)
During the winter months a suitable warm coat is required. During the warmer months of the year, a waterproof coat or jacket should be brought in.
Our uniform for P.E. and Games activities is as follows:
- Navy blue shorts

Socks must be worn with trainers.
The children attend school in their DFPA school uniform and change into their DFPA P.E kit on their class P.E Days.
DFPA P.E kit should be brought into school in a suitable bag on Mondays, then taken home on Fridays, weekly.
For swimming lessons: a one-piece swimsuit, swimming shorts, a rash vest/rash guard. Swimming shorts need to be above the knee. No bikinis.
Health and Safety
In the interests of health and safety all children with hair longer than shoulder length must tie it back. Hair accessories must be school colours and discrete in size. No extremes of hair style, for example, tramlines or dyed hair.
Make-up, including nail varnish, should not be worn for school.
Children are expected to exercise considerable care in looking after their own things. All clothing and belongings MUST be clearly marked with the child’s name and class. Valuable items should not be brought to school.
We make every effort to re-unite named lost property to its owner. Items of property that cannot be identified will be donated to FODA’s second-hand uniform stall.
Jewellery should not be worn with the exception of stud (sleeper) earrings for pierced ears only (none for PE days), and/or a plain, inexpensive wristwatch (no Fitbits). The school cannot take responsibility for jewellery or valuables although we will make every effort to safeguard such items.
Each child should have their own water bottle (labelled with their name and class), with water only inside the water bottle.
Uniform suppliers
In order to provide quality and value for money we have the following supplier:
Price and Buckland
All logoed uniform items can be purchased via the following link: https://www.pbuniform-online.co.uk/downham
Items which do not include the academy logo (trousers, skirts, pinafores, shoes, light blue polo shirts, PE shorts and jogging bottoms) can also be purchased from these suppliers or from many high street stores and supermarkets.
Second-hand Uniform
The school will support families of current and prospective children with the cost of uniform through a second-hand uniform stall, organised at FODA events at the end of each term. If families wish to donate grown out of uniform, they can do so by handing it in at the school office during term time. Any unnamed and unclaimed uniform, across the school, at the end of each half term, will be donated to each of FODA’s end of term second-hand uniform stalls. Information about each second-hand uniform stall event will be published in the Downham Link our weekly newsletters, plus emails sent to families ahead of each event.
