Design & Technology

At Downham Feoffees Primary Academy, Design and Technology (DT) is practical, creative and purposeful.

Our curriculum nurtures resourceful, innovative learners who understand the impact of design and technology on everyday life and the wider world, preparing them to contribute positively to their community and beyond.

We inspire our children to think critically: asking ‘why’ and ‘how'; design with confidence; solve problems or scenarios inspired by real-life; and make meaningful links to other curriculum areas.

Our aim is to bring design technology alive for our children, to evoke the children’s curiosity and engage their minds to create, build and use technology to build new and inventive products. We have mapped our DT learning to have cross curricular links to add purpose and intrigue to the children’s experiences.

In DT, we use a clear process to create:

At Downham Feoffees Primary Academy, children will develop technical skills, resilience and independence through working alone, in groups or pairs. Together, they learn to take risks, justify their ideas and reflect thoughtfully to improve their work.
