Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Downham Feoffees Primary Academy, we welcome all children and families. We aim to offer an inclusive curriculum that ensures the best possible progress for all pupils, whatever their need or disability.

We use a variety of teaching styles and strategies to ensure all children can access school life fully. This enables us to identify and offer targeted support for all of our children with SEND, at the level which helps them to make progress from their starting points.

Some of our children may have specific targets to support their learning. These will be shared with you and recorded on our Assess, Plan, Do and Review paperwork.

If you have any concerns about your child/ren please talk to the class teacher first. They will be able to offer you advice and support around your initial queries. You can also contact the SENDCo if you have any further questions.

The School Inclusion Leader/SENDCo is Mrs Lorna Greaves. Her working days are Monday and Wednesday. If you would like to contact Mrs Greaves, you can contact her via the school office email which is – office@downhamfeoffees.org

If you would like to access impartial and confidential advice around any SEND queries, you can look at the SENDIASS website;

Disability Access Statement

With the introduction of the Equality Act 2010, Downham Feoffees Primary Academy, in common with all premises offering access to the Public in England and Wales, assumed a mandatory obligation to provide easy access to all parts of its premises for people with Disabilities, wherever reasonably practicable. Downham Feoffees Primary Academy is a single story building on one site, with no significant change in floor levels within the main building. The mobile on the school site has a ramp which leads to a door wide enough for wheel chair access.

To meet the requirements of the legislation, Downham Feoffees Primary Academy has ensured a number of ramped/level access points throughout its premises as follows:

  • Reception: The reception external access point to the building is all on one level.
  • School car park: There is a ramp from the car park to the path leading to the front entrance. The space in front of the ramp should be kept clear.
  • School hall: There is a slight ramp leading from the car park to the hall. This enables easy access for anyone requiring entry to the hall.

In addition to the above, there are accessible lavatory facilities near the hall.
